Alfreda "Tut" Harris

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at Breaux Bridge Pentecostals for Alfreda “Tut” Harris, 93, who passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2024. Pastor Jonathan Haygood will officiate the ceremony. Interment will immediately follow the service at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Lafayette. 

Visitation hours will be observed at Breaux Bridge Pentecostals on Saturday, August 31, 2024 from 8:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. 

Alfreda is survived by her eight daughters, Carrie Jones, Gloria (Sherman) LeBlanc, Rosemary “Carol Ann” (Shelton) Edwards, Elizabeth (Jimmy) Sam of Lafayette La, Mary (Calvin) Johnson of St. Martinville La, Sharon Meche of Carencro La, Clara (Donald) Babino Opelousas, La, and Mary Lois (Gerald Paul) Dural Sr. of Cankton La; two sons, Joseph (Rose) Harris, and Tony (Charlotte) Harris of Lafayette La; two sisters, Elvina Sampy of Carencro, La, and Eunice Charles of Lafayette; one brother, Joseph Alexander and his wife Wanda of Lafayette; 40 grandchildren; 109 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Howard Harris; her parents, Lucille and Tony Alexander; two sisters, Agnes Cormier and Ruby Alexander; one grandson, Gerald Paul Dural, Jr.; and two sons-in-laws, Clayton Jones and Bailey Meche.

Alfreda Harris was a powerful woman of prayer. In her free time, she enjoyed cooking and taking care of her grandchildren. She was the matriarch of this family, and will be greatly missed.

The family would like to extend a special Thank you to Magnolia Estates, Amedisys Hospice of Lafayette, and her granddaughters, Jada Clement, April Sehati, Stacey Jones, Denitra Meche, Philana Cluse, and Krystal Harris for all of their continued help.
