Born on October 21, 1937 to Cleopha and Angela Begnaud Hebert, Annie grew up in a close-knit family alongside her siblings: Herbert “Cafa” Hebert (Barbara), Alvin “Nat” Hebert (Mary Ann), Melvin Hebert (Annette), and Jane Bernard (Terry). She remained deeply connected to her roots, cherishing the bonds of family and faith throughout her life.
A proud graduate of Arnaudville High School, Class of 1955, Annie married the love of her life, Denis Meche, on October 29, 1955. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and adventure, raising their children: Melinda, Kenneth (Janet), Jerry (Jenny), and Karen. She found immeasurable joy in her grandchildren: Jamie Renard (Kim), Heidi Smith (Clayton), Jas Badeaux (Timothy), Kyle Meche, Kara Johnson, Joni Meche, Jada Meche, Chase Meche (Cori), and Matthew Johnson, as well as her ten great-grandchildren: Chaz, Baylon, Jenna, Myles, Gavin, Abigail, Kylie, Harrison, Eloise, and River.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father; Cleopha & Angela Hebert; her beloved husband, Denis Meche; her daughter, Melinda Meche; and her brothers, Alvin “Nat” Hebert & Melvin Hebert.
Annie dedicated 30 years of service to Montgomery Ward. She had a deep love for cooking, a talent that brought family and friends together around her table. For 30 years, she played bunco with her closest friends, a tradition she cherished. In her younger years, she was an enthusiastic member of a bowling league, and throughout her life, she and Denis traveled the country with dear friends, creating treasured memories along the way.
Annie’s legacy is one of love, kindness, and joy. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Clayton Smith, Kyle Meche, Chase Meche, Matt Johnson, Chaz Badeaux, Baylon Badeaux, Myles Renard, and Gavin Lejeune. Honorary pallbearers will be Herbert “Cafa” Hebert, Kenneth Meche, Jerry Meche, Neil Hebert, Kim Renard, and Timothy Badeaux.
Rest in peace, Annie. Your legacy will forever shine in our hearts.
