Barbara Degeyter

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at a 2:30 p.m. Thursday, November 8 in the Sunrise Chapel at Walters Funeral Home for Barbara H. Degeyter who died Monday, November 5, 2018. Celebrant of the Mass will be the Rev. Dan Edwards, Pastor of St. Jules Catholic Church. Lectors will be Peggy Stutes and Linda Daigle.  Organist and soloist will be Stephanie Hoffpauir. Gift bearers will be Michael, Sarah, Jocelyn, Kaylee, Matthew, and Sophia Degeyter; and Madison and Haley Knox.
She is survived by her spouse of 53 years, John Allen Degeyter; one daughter, Elizabeth Ann Knox and husband, Leon, of Sanger, TX; three sons; John Aaron Degeyter, Robert Joseph Degeyter of Baton Rouge, Edward James Degeyter and wife, Shereé, of Severn, MD; eight grandchildren, Michael, Sarah, Jocelyn, Kaylee, Matthew and Sophia Degeyter and Madison and Haley Knox.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmo Adam Hutchinson and Josephine Boffato Hutchinson.
A native of New Orleans, Mrs. Degeyter was a housewife and resident of Lafayette for the past 62 years.
Pallbearers will be her husband and four children.
The family requests visiting hours begin at 9 a.m. until time of services on Thursday.  A rosary will be prayed at 11:30 a.m.
