A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at 11:00 am in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Crowley, La. for Carolyn Breaux Miller, who passed away on March 25, 2023, surrounded by her family and friends following a five-month battle with uterine cancer. She was 57 years old. Father Johnathan Janise, pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary, will be the celebrant of the Mass and conduct the funeral ceremony. Lectors will be Rachael Fryoux and Donna Miller; gift bearers will be Dr. Linda Oge and Pebbles Mire. Interment will follow Mass in Woodlawn Cemetery in Crowley, where she will be buried near her parents.
Carolyn was born in Crowley, Louisiana on July 6, 1965, to the late Louis Alvin Breaux and Norma Jane Breaux. She was the youngest of their three children, including her sister Sandra and brother Brian.
She grew up with her family on a rice farm in Lyons Point, La. and graduated from Notre Dame High School and the University of Southwestern Louisiana (ULL) where she obtained a BS Degree in Business Administration in 1987. In 1990, she met and married the love of her life Allen Miller, and they had a wonderful 32-year marriage where they maintained a great relationship with many close friends and family. She had two loving sons, Michael and Stephen, that she was so proud of. She was very involved in her sons' school activities such as adult leader for troop 162, den leader for troop 497, and the Carencro band boosters.
Following graduation, she continued her employment at Albertsons where she had a 36-year career, finishing her career as the Service Desk Manager and Bookkeeper at the store. During her years at Albertsons, she forged a lifetime of beautiful friendships with her fellow staff members and customers. She was known for her thoughtfulness and always providing extra help to others. A tribute of Carolyn has been displayed at Albertsons; she will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
After the death of her father Alvin in 2015, Carolyn devoted herself to caring for her mother Norma until her death in Jan. 2022. She worked tirelessly to take care of her family and at the same time providing a wonderful life for her mother. Throughout her life, Carolyn maintained lifelong friendships with several of her classmates. She would often visit them, go to dinners with them and really enjoyed playing Pokeno with her friends.
Carolyn loved to travel. After Allen’s retirement the couple went on frequent trips around North America and Europe. In the summer of 2022 Carolyn and Allen renewed their vows on the peak of Table Top Mountain in the town of Juneau, Alaska.
She is survived by her loving husband of 32 years Allen Miller; her two sons, Michael Miller and Stephen Miller, both of Scott; her sister Sandra (Howard) Willey and their son Kevin of Cary, NC; her brother Brian (Lane) Breaux of Baton Rouge and their daughters, Rachel (Jonathan) Fryoux of Baton Rouge and Melanie Norwood of Oak Park, IL; and her aunt Agnes Richard of Mire.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Norma and Louis Alvin Breaux; and her grandparents Laura and Dalton Breaux and Luke and Lucille Melancon.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 28, from 3:00 - 8:00 pm, and resume on Wednesday morning at 8:00 am - 10:00 am. A rosary will be led by Sr. Doris Roy, S.E.C. at 6:00 pm on Tuesday evening.
Pallbearers will be Michael Miller, Stephen Miller, Howard Willey, Kevin Willey, Jonathan Fryoux, & Brian Breaux. Honorary pallbearers are Penny Mouton, Sandy Trahan, Kelly Miller, Robyne Vilar, Vicki Smith, Nicole Beckner, Diana Richard, Tammy Bernard, Carla Potier, Allison Meservey, & Pat Watson.
The family would like to give thanks to the following people: the nurses and staff on the 6th floor oncology at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center, Dr. Linda Oge, Pebbles Mire, Henrietta Hilbun, Maggie Langston, & Penny Mouton.
