Clifford Ray Newman, 81, passed away on December 5, 2010. Clifford is survived by his spouse Magda Vincent Newman of Lafayette; one daughter, Sherry Vincent and her husband Joey of Ringold, LA; one son, Steve Newman and his wife Elaine of Lafayette; one step-son, Ronnie Vincent and his wife Sue of Lafayette; two step-daughters, Patricia Phillips and her husband Roy of Slidell, and Janet Vincent of Baton Rouge; one sister, Marjorie Colvin of Sharon, LA; four grandchildren, Paige and Derek Newman, Mark Johns, and Misty Nevilles; ten great-grandchildren, and one great great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Odette Newman, and his first wife, Faye Muse Newman.
Clifford was born on June 5, 1929. He attended Bastrop High School and went on to work for Texas Gas for 39 years before retiring. While there he served as communications specialist, plant superintendent, and district foreman at the Youngsville Facility. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #410 in Eunice, LA, a member and past-president of the Youngsville Lions Club, and was active in many civic organizations.
Clifford was a deacon at Northside Baptist and Teche Baptist Churches. He was very involved in building Baptist churches in Youngsville, Breaux Bridge and Lafayette.
