Crystal Phipps

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon on Saturday, December 22, 2012 in the Sunrise Chapel at Walters Funeral Home for Crystal Lynn Phipps, who passed away on December 19, 2012 at Lafayette General Medical Center. She was 37 years old. Father Gary Schexnayder, pastor of St. Elizabeth Seton will officiate the ceremony and conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Gwen Doucet and Connie Mouton; gift bearers will be her two sisters, Ericka and Lauren Acosta. Jodi Bollich, organist and soloist, will perform "Amazing Grace", "Here I Am, Lord", "Be Not Afraid", "Ave Maria", and "How Great Thou Art". Interment will take place immediately following the funeral mass at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
Crystal was born on July 9, 1975 to Michael and Theresa Acosta. She graduated from Teurlings High School in 1993 and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2001, where she was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. Upon graduation, Crystal taught at Church Point High School. She was a native of Lafayette and resident of Sunset for the past five years.
She is survived by her husband Adam, children Olivia and Ethan Phipps of Sunset; her parents, the former Theresa Ann Peel and Michael Wayne Acosta, and two sisters Ericka and Lauren Acosta of Lafayette. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Miller and Josephine Peel; and paternal grandparents, Louise and Harvey Acosta.
Pallbearers for the service will be Eugene Roy, Jeffrey Roy, Robert Mouton, Carroll Matte, Terry Holloway and Terry Bourque. Honorary pallbearer will be Jeremy Douet.
The family requests that visitation be held at from 4:00-8:00 pm on Friday, December 21, 2012, and continue Saturday morning from 9:00 am until time of service. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Friday evening.
