David Edgar Citron IV

Christian funeral services will be held Monday, February 10, 2025 at 1:00 pm in the Sunrise Chapel at Walters Funeral Home for David Edgar “Brooks” Citron IV, who passed away on February 4, 2025 after a lengthy battle with osteosarcoma. He was 49 years old. 

Reverend Monsignor Keith DeRouen, pastor of Our Lady Queen of Angels Church in Opelousas will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Hollie Citron and Todd Citron. Eulogists will be given by Gina Hanchey and Seth Citron. Private inurnment will take place at Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery & Mausoleum.

Serving as honorary pallbearers are Grant Citron, Cooper Citron, Christopher Citron, Farrah Dupuis, Marc Breaux, Taylor Breaux, Ross Breaux, Kristen Trahan, and Lucas Foreman.

Visitation will take place Monday between the hours of 8:00 am - 12:00 pm at Walters Funeral Home. Eulogies will begin one hour prior to the service at noon. 

Brooks is survived by his parents, Sarah Domingue Citron and David “Rusty” Elroy Citron III; one brother, Grant Citron; two nephews, Cooper and Christopher Citron; godparents Madeline Domingue Breaux and Todd Citron; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Ann Doucet Domingue and Edgar Domingue; and Marcelle Fortier Citron and Elroy Citron.

Brooks was a native of Lafayette. He attended Cathedral Carmel Catholic School and graduated from St Thomas More Catholic High School in 1994. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Arts from the University of Southwest Louisiana (now University of Louisiana at Lafayette), with a minor in Mass Communication. While working toward his postgraduate degree, he attended the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia. Because of his love of film production and cinematography, it was no surprise when he earned his Master’s Degree in film and media production from Griffith University Film School in Brisbane, Australia in 2001. He moved to Los Angeles after returning from Australia and found employment in the film and television industry. He worked on several talk shows including the Judge Judy Show, Larry Elders’ Show, and The Tyra Banks Show, and as a production crew member for the Criss Angel Mind Freak Magic Show in Las Vegas.

Years ago, Brooks became a Bitcoin/cryptocurrency enthusiast and began investing early on. What once was a hobby soon became a lucrative project. He took great pleasure in educating family and friends on how to invest and make a profit.

Brooks’ favorite childhood memories were of going to the movies, playing with his cousins and friends at the Citron Compound, where they would hunt for snakes, swim, ride ponies, play baseball, and ride bikes and go karts, and playing board games at his grandmother Marcelle’s house.

Brooks will be remembered as a great conversationalist and a critical-thinking researcher. He was kind and generous with a non-judgmental spirit. He believed in God, and had compassion and love toward everyone. He knew that God's will for him was the perfect divine will, and was at peace with his fate. He was greatly loved and will be missed by many.

The family extends their sincere thanks to Brooks’ longtime friends who traveled from all parts of the world to reunite. It was a cherished weekend of reminiscing, sharing experiences that they had together and catching up on their present lives. A very heartfelt thank you to Brooks’ aunt and godmother, Madeline Domingue Breaux, for her loving and nurturing care for Brooks.
