Ella M. Gary

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 in the Sunrise Chapel at Walters Funeral Home for Ella M. Gary, 91, who passed away on Friday, September 27, 2024. Deacon Cliff Tanner will officiate the ceremony. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens immediately following the services. 

Visitation hours will be observed at Walters Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m, and will resume on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 from 8:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m.  A rosary will be prayed at the funeral home on Tuesday evening at 5:30 p.m.

Ella is survived by one daughter, Claire Domingue and her husband Dwayne of Lafayette; four sons, Perry Gary and his wife Audrey of Rayne, Neal Gary and his wife Pam of Lafayette, David Gary and his fiance Melinda of Carencro, and Jeff Gary and his wife Danette of Lafayette; two sisters, Iris Boudreaux of Rayne and Benita Bergeron of Lafayette; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert Gary; her parents, Louis and Beatrice Meche; three brothers, Lloyd Meche, Emery Meche, and Melvin Meche; and one sister, Onera Brasseaux.

A native of Church Point, Ella was a resident of Lafayette for 65 years. She was a member of St. Anne Society of Carencro and St. Jules Catholic Daughters.

Pallbearers are Blake Gary, Nicholas Gary, Daniel Gary, Clint Domingue, Connor Gary, and Grayson Bourgeois. Honorary pallbearers are Cooper Gary, Saul Gary, Kyuss Gary, and Dillion Gary. 

The family requests that memorial contributions be made in her name to NSI Hospice, 1025 Camellia Blvd., Lafayette, LA, 70508.
