Frances Melrose Guidry

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 27, 2022 at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church for Frances Melrose Guidry, 81, who passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2022.   Father David Hebert, Pastor of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, will officiate the ceremony.  Interment will be in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Carencro.

Visitation hours will be observed Thursday, May 26, 2022 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and will resume on Friday, May 27, 2022 from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.  A rosary will be prayed on Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m.

Melrose is survived by two sons, Doug Guidry of Carencro, and Jeff Guidry of Denver, CO;  two daughters, Donna Guidry-Stephenson of Carencro, and Joan Guidry of Carencro;  one sister, Margaret Stelly of Grand Coteau;  three grandchildren, Carson Stephenson and his fiancé Mackenzie Luker of Carencro, Jeremiah Guidry of Mississippi, and Lillie Guidry of Mississippi;  and two sisters-in-law, Nell Richard of Lafayette, and Ida Richard of Opelousas.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James Carl Guidry;  her parents, Mason and Lydia Richard;  two sisters, Bennie Richard and Diane Richard;  and two brothers, Louis Michael Richard and J.B. Richard.

Melrose was a devout Catholic, and was a Parishioner at St Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church.  She loved to sing, and was a very devoted mother and grandmother.

She was employed as a Teacher’s Aide, and was very well respected by the faculty, staff, and student body at Church Point Elementary.
