Genevieve "Jenny" O'Rourke

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, May 16, 2022 at 10:00 am at St. Jules Catholic Church for Genevieve "Jenny" Martin-O'Rourke, 73, who passed away May 12, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her family. The Right Reverend Russell Harrington will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Interment will follow the Mass in the mausoleum at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive guests at Walters Funeral Home on Sunday, May 15, 2022 from 4:00 - 8:00 pm, and resume visitation on Monday morning at 8:00 - 9:30 am prior to leaving for St. Jules Church. A rosary will be led by Mary Ann Smith on Sunday evening at 6:00 pm.
Jenny was born in Scott to the former Cleotilde Fournier and Ambroise Martin on Feb. 19, 1949.
She is survived by her husband Don O'Rourke, Sr.; her sister, Elizabeth Ann Robicheaux; two nephews, Michael J. Domingue and Robert Dale Domingue; three step-children, Dona O'Rourke (Richard) Angelle, Don (Mary Ellen) O'Rourke, Jr., and Charlene O'Rourke (Dean) Breaux; as well as many step grand- and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Hazel M. Domingue; three nephews, Paul Wayne Domingue, Charles Ray Domingue, and Byron Keith Domingue; and her grand-nephew Kelsey Domingue.
Jenny worked in banking for most of her life. She worked for First National Bank, IberiaBank, and later Investar Bank. At IberiaBank she was an assistant vice president in the private banking department for years, where she developed many loyal customer relationships.
Serving as pallbearers are Jacob Domingue, Casey Domingue, Morris Lottinger IV, Michael Domingue, Brent Frick, and Tim Gotreaux. Honorary pallbearers include Jared Petitjean, Ed Habetz, Kenneth Habetz, Bob Averbach, and the management and staff of Hub City Diner.
A heartfelt appreciation is extended by Jenny to the staff of Oschner Lafayette General Cancer Center, Hospice of Acadiana, and Michelle Clay.
