Lafayette- A Mass of Christian Burial for Gladys Slidell Busby Blanc, known to many as “Dee Dee” will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 19, 2016, in the Sunrise Chapel at Walters Funeral Home in Lafayette. Rev. Fr. Chester Arceneaux and Msgr. Ron Broussard will concelebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal and interment will follow at Indian Bayou Methodist Cemetery (Hwy. 700) in Indian Bayou.
God's angels whispered for Gladys's spirit to enter the land of paradise and she quietly surrendered on Thursday, September 15, 2016, at her home in Lafayette, at the age of 61. Gladys Busby was born to the union of the late, Robert Edward Busby, Sr., and Gladys Holly Busby, in Loreauville, LA, on November 1, 1954. She worked for Albertson’s in the bakery for many years. She was a beautiful person inside and out and has left a legacy of compassion and love to those she has left behind. Her faith was strong and her commitment to living a good, Christian life assures us that she is now with God in heaven.
She loved baking and designing cakes for weddings, showers, and birthday parties, in addition to creating beautiful flower arrangements. She enjoyed gathering with family and friends, cooking, and canning. She was known by her family for her homemade desserts and was also a very talented seamstress. She cherished her visits with relatives and friends, especially her nieces and nephews and religious family. Gladys will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her loving husband of 26 years, Raymond Mark Blanc of Lafayette; and her two brothers, Ernest Busby of Cypress Island, LA; and Tex Busby of Hatfield, AR. She also had a host of nieces, nephews, and close friends. Travis, Bella, Abigail, Charlie, Lucy, Roxie, and Maddie, her miniature Dachshunds, occupied most of her time and energy.
Ready to welcome Gladys, are her parents, and her brother, Robert Edward Busby, Jr. Gladys will now rest peacefully beside her father and mother, who she loved very much.
