A Celebration of Life honoring the life of Harry M. George will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in the Sunrise Chapel at Walters Funeral Home. Mr. George passed away peacefully on June 11, 2013 at Amelia Manor Nursing Home. He was 82 years old. John Bedindfield, rector of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church will conduct the funeral service.
Survivors include his five daughters, Annaliese Whipple, La Joy Collins, Jane Jackson, Roxanne Maxson, and Sue Ellen Hall; his son, Harry M. George Jr.; his sister, Louella Hefty; 17 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents James and Mary George; and one brother, James Ira George, Jr.
Harry retired from the United States Army after serving his country honorably for 20 years. He received the National Defense Service Medal and Army Commendation Medal for his service during the Korean War. After retirement, he became a school teacher. He was an avid golfer and a proud member of the Osage Nation.
The family requests that visitation begin at 9:00 a.m. prior to the service on Saturday morning. Following the service, family and friends will gather for a reception in the Reminisce Room at Walters Funeral Home.
