Survivors include two daughters, Harriet _Cookie_ Smith Benson, and husband Bobby of Lafayette, and Sheila Smith Kelley of Scott; two sons, Harry _Ricky_ Smith, and wife Brenda of Lafayette, and Gregory Smith of Lafayette; a special person and beloved companion, Ms. Jimmy H. LeBlanc; one sister, Flo Smith Domingue of Lafayette; one brother, John E. Smith of Lafayette; 10 grandchildren: Monica Calamia Roger, Victor Calamia, Melissa Smith Neveu, Dawn Smith Lemaire, Shawn Kelley, Micheal Kelley, Kristine Kelley Duplechain, Kathryn Kelley, Palmer Smith, and Matille Smith; and 19 great-grandchildren: Tyler Albarado, Lindsey Neveu, Madison Neveu, Demi Lemaire, Luke Lemaire, Katelyn Kelley, Kaleb Kelley, Kamille Kelley, Kameron Kelley, Kaedyn Kelley, Aleksis Duplechain, Rebekah Duplechain, Ray Kelley, Tony Kelley, Kayla Kelley, Jonathan Kelley, Megan Calamia, James Roger, and Josh Barbo Roger.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Louise Tauzin Smith; his parents, Louis Smith and the former Odile Cormier; one daughter, Marie Smith Copeland; one son-in-law, Steven P. Kelley; two sisters, Betty Jane Cecil, and Laverla _Cindy_ Bisignani.
He owned and operated Harry Smith_s Lodge in Broussard from 1960-1995, Smith_s Auto Sales and Smith Lincoln-Mercury in Lafayette from 1960-1965, and Big Hearted Harry_s Auto Sales in Abbeville from 1945-1960. He was a member of St. Jules Catholic Church and the Carmelite Men_s Guild. He cared for the needs of St. Joseph Shelter, Faith House, Naomi House, and the Christian Brothers.
