A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, April 25, 2013 at 1:00 pm in the Sunrise Chapel at Walters Funeral Home for Jacque "Jack" Guilbeaux, 98, who passed away April 23, 2013 at his residence. Father Mario Romero, associate pastor at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Scott will conduct the mass and funeral services. Interment will follow in Evangeline Memorial Gardens in Carencro.
Survivors include his daughter, Eva Dell Provost and her husband O.J. of Scott; his brother Valex Guilbeaux and his wife Anna Bell of Lafayette; three grandchildren, Jack Cormier and his wife Julie, Vicki Moras and her husband Ralph Jr., and Peggy Naquin and her husband Andy; ten great-grandchildren, Jayci Cormier, Collin Cormier, Leigh Petersen, John Petersen, Beth Petersen, Amie Schnabel, Andree Naquin, Nicki Naquin, Maurie Naquin and Corey Calais; and numerous nieces, nephews, and godchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucien and Heremenia Guilbeaux; three brothers, Eugene, Pierre, and Fabien Guilbeaux; and three sisters, Vivian Guilbeaux, Amelda Benoit, and Edna Miller.
A native of Carencro and resident of Scott for most of his life, Jacque was a carpenter in the oil industry. He served as an usher at St. Genevieve Roman Catholic Church and Sts. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church in Scott, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist.
Pallbearers include members of St. Genevieve's Usher Society.
The family requests that visitation be held Wednesday, April 24, 2013 from 4:00-8:00 pm, and resume Thursday morning at 9:00 am until time of services. A rosary will be prayed Wednesday evening at 6:00 pm.
