Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at 10:00 am in the Sunrise Chapel at Walters Funeral Home for Jeremiah Lormand, 40, who passed away August 19, 2023. Interment will follow the services in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include his parents, Kenneth and Carolyn Lormand of Sunset; three daughters, Hayden Theriot of Lafayette, Ashlin Lormand and Brooklyn Lormand, both of St. Martinville; and two sisters, Jamie Humphries and Jessica Lormand, both of Sunset.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Lionel & Lou Ella Lormand; and maternal grandmother, Eula Begnaud Mire.
Jeremiah was a native of Lafayette, and was a resident of Sunset for a number of years. Growing up Jeremiah's love of baseball started at a very young age. Every summer was spent at the ballpark with his family cheering him on. This love carried on throughout his entire childhood and into high school. He had a love of music that spanned every genre. From opera to the heaviest of metal, you always knew what kind of a day he was having through the music that was playing.
Jeremiah worked in the oil field and construction most of his adult life. Anytime he started with a new company, he quickly proved himself through his hard work and dedication to the job and his crews. He enjoyed fishing and learning new things, including cooking. He worked under Chef James Graham, and he was good at it.
Jeremiah loved spending time with his three girls, Hayden, Ashlin, and Brooklyn. He strived constantly to be a good dad. He loved his girls without measure and they loved him unconditionally. They understood his struggles and never held that against him.
Jeremiah will be missed for all the attributes that made him who he was: his humor, gentleness, sensitive nature, and intelligence. Let us remember that his struggles where what he fought, and not who he was. Jeremiah was a good person to his core. He always made friends quickly. He left an impact on everyone he leaves behind. Let us be so grateful to God for allowing us to be apart of his short life.
Pallbearers for the service will be Jonathan Lormand, Nathan Lormand, David M. Chretien, Steffan Lanclos, Jacob Lanclos, and Adam Lanclos.
The family requests that visitation be held Monday from 4:00 - 8:00 pm, and resume Tuesday morning at 8:00 am. A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 pm on Monday evening.
