Jim Chiasson

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at 1:30 pm in the Sunrise Chapel at Walters Funeral Home for Jim Chiasson, 80, who passed away April 4, 2023 at the Calcutta House. Father Gregory Chauvin, pastor of St. Jules Church, will officiate the services. Missy Grimmett and Donna Rills will be the lectors. Karen Broussard, organist and soloist, will perform, "Amazing Grace", "The Lord Is My Light and My Salvation", "Hail Mary, Gentle Woman", "You Are Mine", and "I Can Only Imagine". Interment will follow in Fountain Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be Tuesday morning prior to the service beginning at 10:00 am. A rosary will be led by Sr. Doris Roy, S.E.C. at 10:30 am.

Survivors include wife, Sharlene Windham Chiasson of Lafayette; one daughter, Jehan (Jim) Bailey of France; one son, Shawn (Ning) Chiasson of Galveston, TX; and one grandson, Andy Chiasson of CA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Azema and Edward  Chiasson; and two siblings, Eldridge Chiasson and Shirley Rills.
Jim was a native of Port Barre and resident of Lafayette for the past 23 years. He graduated from USL in Electrical Engineering, and was the Vice President -Executive Sales Leader of North America for Schlumberger for 33 years. 

Jim was a member of the United States Army National Guard.

Service as pallbearers are Shawn Chiasson, Bryan Windham, Dave Richardson, Eric Grimmett, Charlie Grimmett, and Alex Pipkins. Honorary pallbearers include Andy Chiasson, Johnny Lombas, Jim Greve, and Chris Grimmett.
