Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, January 3, 2022 in the Sunrise Chapel at Walters Funeral Home for John E. Leach, 80, who passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2021. Linton Broussard, Care Pastor at The Bayou Church, will officiate the ceremony. Interment will be immediately following the service in Lafayette Memorial Park.
Visitation hours will be observed at Walters Funeral Home on Monday, January 3, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 3:00 p.m.
John is survived by his wife Mary Mitchell Leach of Lafayette; one daughter, Shannon Leach Hamlett of Lubbock, TX; two sons, John Alan Leach of Lafayette, and Stephen Leach of Delray Beach, FL; two step-daughters, Jennifer Ann Terrebonne of Lafayette, and Mary Catherine Terrebonne of Lafayette; one sister, Nanette Leach Pope and her husband Jimmy of Texarkana, TX; one grandson, Joshua Leach and his wife Megan of Lafayette; three granddaughters, Katherine Hamlett, Margeli Hamlett, and Sarah Hamlett, all of Lubbock, TX; two step-granddaughters, Jenee Dansdill of Duson, and Jacey Wilkerson and her husband Brad of Lafayette; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alan and Lucille Leach; and two brothers, Jim Leach and Michael Leach.
John was a proud Veteran of the United States Army. He was employed by Don’s Automotive, and was active in several business ventures around Acadiana, including being the past owner of Cajun Fried Chicken in St. Martinville.
