Joseph Dudley "J.D." McBride

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 6, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the Sunrise Chapel at Walters Funeral Home for Joseph Dudley “J.D.” McBride, 95, who passed away on Friday, November 3, 2023. Father Bryan Taylor, Pastor at St. Genevieve Catholic Church, will officiate the ceremony.  Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery immediately following the service.

Visitation hours will be observed at Walters Funeral Home on Monday, November 6, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m.  A rosary will be prayed on Monday morning at 11:00 a.m. at Walters Funeral Home.

Joseph is survived by his wife of 72 years, Mary Joyce McBride;  three sons, Glen P. McBride and his wife Charlotte of Church Point, Tim E. McBride and his wife Carolyn of Lafayette, and Alan J. McBride and his wife Lynn of Spring, TX;  six grandchildren, Krystal Parrinello, Nikki Sonnier and her husband Mark, Jamey Domec and her husband Rick, Rebekah Hayes and her husband Scott, Sam McBride and his wife Heather, and Nicole Tapal-Brooks;  and 12 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lelia and Isadore McBride, Sr.;  one son, Giles J. McBride; one brother, Isadore “Tex” McBride, Jr.; and one sister, Gertrude Klein.

Joseph was a retired Captain of the Lafayette Police Department, and a Veteran of the United States Navy.  In his free time he enjoyed painting.

Pallbearers will be Glen P. McBride, Tim E. McBride, Alan J. McBride, Mark Sonnier, Scott Hayes, and Bryce Brooks.  Honorary pallbearer is Samuel McBride.

The McBride family would like to extend special thanks to the Nurses and Staff at Courtyard Manor, and Hospice of Acadiana.
