Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 11, 2011, at an 11:00 am Mass of Christian Burial in St. Peter Catholic Church in Carencro for Joseph L. "Boonie" Jeanminette, who passed away on January 8, 2011 at Lafayette General Medical Center. He was 63 years old.
Interment will follow in Evangeline Memorial Gardens in Carencro.
The Reverend Vincent Alexius, Pastor of St. Paul the Apostle Church in Baton Rouge, will officiate. Musical selections for the service include, "Amazing Grace," "Yahweh Is My Shepherd Now," "Be Not Afraid," "Old Rugged Cross," and "Take My Hand, Precious Lord." Ron Moreau, vocalist, will be accompanied by Phyllis Simar on the organ for the ceremony. Lectors will be Shawn Herpin and Megan Maududi, and gift bearers will be Tonia Labbe, Sonia Honore, Geralyn Morrell, and Angelle Frilot. Pallbearers will be Richard Labbe, Andrew Cailler, Allen Edgar, Blake Gary, Joey Edgar, and Chester De Rouen, Jr.
A native of Lydia and longtime resident of Carencro, Joseph was born on January 31, 1947 to Clarence and Louise Jeanminette. He was self employed as a painting contractor and commercial fisherman, and was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Carencro.
Joseph is survived by his wife, the former Linda Oppenheimer of Carencro; daughter April Jeanminette Durand and her husband Douglas of Plaquemine; son Casey Jeanminette, his wife Michelle and their son Colin Joshua Jeanminette of Carencro; sister Leora Jeanminette Labbe and her husband Russell of New Orleans; brother Clarence Jeanminette and his wife Therese of Arnaudville; and his in-laws Athalie Rozier and Paul Oppenheimer, Sr., of Lafayette.
He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Louise Jeanminette, and Josh Guidry, a very close friend he considered to be a son.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 4-10 pm on Monday, January 10, 2011, and resume at 8:00 am until time of services on Tuesday. A rosary will be prayed Monday evening at 7:00 pm at Walters Funeral Home.
The family extends its special thanks to the staff of Fresenius Medical Care North and West, DCI Kidney Center, and Drs. John Higginbotham, Michael Liu and Paul Miller for their dedication and professional care shown to Joseph though his most difficult times.
