A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, March 31, 2014 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens for Mattie Atkinson, 91, who passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2014. Reverend Mark Benge, Pastor of First United Methodist Church, will conduct the graveside service.
Visitation hours will be observed on Monday, March 31st from 12:00 p.m. until time of service.
Survivors include one daughter, Charlotte Guidry of Lafayette; one son, Thomas “Tommy Atkinson, Jr. (Dee) of Lafayette; three sisters, Addie Harrell, Merble Hight, and Lavenia Hampton (Herschel), all of Magnolia, Arkansas; one brother, Ralph Aldridge (Augustine) of Stamps, Arkansas; one sister-in law, Ila Fay Aldridge of Magnolia, Arkansas; three grandsons, Timmy Atkinson (Amy) of Arnaudville, Ryan Atkinson of Lafayette, and John Atkinson (Hillary) of Lafayette; and five great-grandchildren, Austyn, Ali, Chaille, Halli, and Grant Atkinson.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Thomas C. Atkinson, Sr.; her parents, Vena and Clarence Aldridge; one grandson, Benjamin Guidry; one sister, and one brother.
