Norma "Jean" Gates

Memorial services will be held at 5:00 pm on Friday, May 20, 2016 at Walters Funeral Home for Norma "Jean" Gates who passed away May 17, 2016. She was 81 years old. The Reverend Wayne Howington of Oak Grove Methodist Church in Gibsland, La. will conduct the services.
Survivors include daughter, Kim Gates and her partner Terri Varnado of Carencro, and one sister, Dorothy Dell Fleming of Broussard.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Gates, her parents, Calvin Edward Griffin and the former Bertha Sarah Dodd.
Jean was a native of Atlanta, Tex. and longtime resident of Carencro. She enjoyed watching softball games and listening to her favorite musical artist Celine Dion.
The family extends its special thanks to her nurses and caregivers at St. Agnes Health Care and Rehab Center, and Dr. Ben Degatur.
The family will receive visitors from 4:00 pm until time of services on Friday afternoon.
