A Celebration of Life honoring Steven "Steve" Wiley will be held Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at 6:00 pm in the Live Oak Room at Walters Funeral Home. He passed away at his home on January 29, 2025, at 68 years old.
Survivors include his children, Stephanie (Bryan) Fetsch of Maurice, and Michael (Christian) Wiley of Ville Platte; one sister, Jean Wiley of Virginia Beach, VA; one brother, Jim (Denise) Wiley of Scarborough, ME; and four grandchildren, Nathan Crouch, Caeden Pierce, Marshall Fetsch, and Camryn Pierce.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nona and Harold Wiley; one brother, Doug Wiley; and one sister, Kathleen Zeosky.
Steve, a native of Watertown, NY, made Lafayette his home for the past 40 years, where he became a legendary and beloved voice on Acadiana’s airwaves. His journey in radio began in high school in Boonville, NY, and his passion for music never wavered—it was the soundtrack to his life, always playing in the background. Beyond the studio, he thrived as an emcee for sporting events, festivals, and concerts, bringing energy and charisma to every stage. A true water enthusiast, he found joy in being near or in the water.
Above all, Steve was a devoted father, grandfather, and proud cat parent. His love for sports ran deep, especially for the New York Yankees and the New Orleans Saints, teams he cheered for with unwavering enthusiasm. His warmth, humor, and unmistakable voice will be deeply missed.
