Funeral Services will be held Friday, May 12, 2023 at 10:00 am in the Sunrise Chapel at Walters Funeral Home for Verna Benoit DeRouen, 89, who passed away May 7, 2023. Father David Hebert, pastor of St. Elizabeth Seton Church will officiate the services. Jodi Bollich will provide musical selections, and interment will follow the services in Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation hours will be as follows:
Thursday, May 11, 4:00 - 8:00 pm; and Friday, May 12, 8:00 am until time of service.
A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 pm on Thursday evening.
Survivors include her husband, Robert "Dan" DeRouen, Sr. of Lafayette; two sons, Robert (Sandra) DeRouen, Jr. of Breaux Bridge and Dean (Nancy) DeRouen of Maurice; three sisters, Judy (Donald) Guilbeau of Lafayette, Helen (Chester) Vincent of Youngsville, and Gail (Donald) Richard of Youngsville; three brothers, Thomas (Delores) Benoit of Carencro, Patrick Benoit of Lafayette, and Lenny (Evelyn) Benoit of Milton; eight grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Melanie and Lanny Benoit; and one brother, John Benoit.
Pallbearers will be Robert DeRouen, Dean DeRouen, Joseph DeRouen, Jesse DeRouen, Brandon Milam, and Trayton Broussard.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Wounded Warriors Project.
