A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 in the Sunrise Chapel at Walters Funeral Home for Verna Huval Dore, 87, who passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2015. The Reverend Gary Schexnayder, Pastor of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, will officiate the funeral ceremony. Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery immediately following the services.
She is survived by one son, Bill Dore and his wife Linda of Arnaudville; two sisters, Virgie Albarado of Lafayette, and Theresa Thibodeaux and her husband Felix of Lake Charles; three brothers, Linus Huval and his wife Maisie of Lafayette, Kernis Huval and his wife Patsy of Sunset, and Hubert Huval and his wife Pris of Lafayette; three grandchildren, Kimberly Dore Prejean and her husband Eddie of Carencro, Kelli Dore and her partner Lisa Leger of Carencro, and Billy “Bebo” Dore and his wife Amy of Sunset; four great-grandchildren, Garrett Prejean, Bailey Dore, Tre’ Dore, and Briley Dore; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Eugene Oscar Dore; her parents, Earline and Maurice Huval; one sister, Lavnia Huval Dore; and three brothers, Burt J. Huval, Russell Huval, and Melvin Huval.
In her earlier years, Verna enjoyed playing music with her husband in the Cajun Caravan Band and camping. Recently, she enjoyed living at Courtyard Manor, praying, and visiting with numerous family and friends.
The family requests that visitation hours be observed on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 from 10:30 a.m. until 8:30 p.m., and on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 from 8:00 a.m. until time of service. A rosary will be prayed on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Billy “Bebo” Dore, Tre’ Dore, Garrett Prejean, Eddie Prejean, Darrell Dore, and Danny Albarado. Honorary Pallbearers are Linus Huval, Kernis Huval, and Hubert Huval.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Courtyard Manor Assisted Living, who cared so lovingly for her, and to the nurses and staff at St. Joseph Hospice.
